This 5 day safari takes you hiking the tallest mountain in Uganda, Rwenzori Mountain also known as the mountain of the moon which involves hiking, spotting the slippery moss-covered rocks, and the hike to the Mt. baker and Edward peak.

- DAY 1: NYAKALENGIJA (1615m asl.) – NYABITABA CAMP (2651m asl.)
- DAY 2: NYABITABA – JOHN MATTE (3261m asl.)

Have an early breakfast we will transfer to the Nyakalengija trailhead. Here, we will arrange our hiking equipment and meet your guides and porters. Then we will start our trail passing through farmland, the park boundary beyond which it follows a thick forest along the Mubuku River, crossing its Mahoma River tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach Nyabitaba hut for overnight. During this part of the trip you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly coloured Rwenzori turaco.
Hike time: Â 6 -7 hours.Â

From Nyabitaba, we will follow the trail on mpanga ridge, passing through the bamboo forest and continue along the tiring stretch of slippery moss-covered rock. At the Nyamuleju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia and groundsel. Finally reach John Matte Hut after passing through the tiring bog, for dinner and overnight at the hut.
Hike time: 7 – 8 hours. Â

Hiking On Mountain Rwenzori

Early in the morning, we will move through Mubuku Valley to the rock shelters at Bujongolo and Kandahi, the base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906. After we will take on a long high steep rocky trail for an overnight at Fresh field pass Camping site.
Hike time: 5 – 6 hours.Â

Early in the morning, we will start the hike through on Mt. baker up onto Edward peak for 3 – 4 hours. Later we will them to descend back to Fresh field pass and then through steep rocky trails for an overnight at Guy yeoman camp for  5– 6hours.

Below Guy Yeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice through a bamboo forest before climbing downwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit. Continue descending Nyabitaba Camp and complete your trek by the evening at Nyakalengija, the base camp.Â
Descend time: 7 – 8 hours
